My uncle works at United Airlines, so i get dirt cheap flights to the states.

So far one elcheap tickets done:

New York
Washington DC
Miami
Key West
Boston
Rhode Island
Los Angeles
Las Vegas
San Franscisco
Chicago

To give you an idea of how cheap, i got a return flight to New York for £110........          BUSINESS CLASS!!  :)

I am 6ft4 and had plenty of room, when sat down if i lean forward i could not touch the seat in front, i had to get up and walk!

They give you loads of free boooze, champers the lot, I got pissed on champers before we even got to Ireland, passed out and woke up over Canada!  ;D ;D

hehe, it is a bit dangerous getting drunk on the plane. I was fine getting on, but the fact of having no dinner did't help!

I was travelling on my own, so i just got drunk on my own and was quiet as a mouse!

Good job i got my trips to the states when i did, its harder to fly standby now with these baggage issues.

I went to Boston a few years ago.....11 hour flight....and im a smoker  :(
No other option really other than to get drunk on the plane fall asleep and wake up just in time for the landing  ;D

Short haul flights 2/3/4 hours and i can get by ok  ;)

i got used to flying with United, i soon found how different some the crews are.  Some pilots say nothing, were others explain how everything works!

Sometimes when comming into land, they all come around and force the seat back ect, but sometimes they don't bother!

Once i was comming into land on a 747 in business class, i was reclined in my seat, drinking some red wine and watching a film.

Felt a slight bump, thought huh? Looked out the window and we had landed!!  :o :o

I try to get abroad at least once a year if work permits preferably France (will live there on day) as I dont like the heat too much and me and the misses go in a National Trust Cottage in the winter. Ive been going to these twice a year in the winter for the last six years and they've all been very cheap, well furnished, clean, most with log fires and we pick ones within walking distance of a pub. What more can one ask for  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I normally go to Ibiza as a friend of mine lets as use his villa very cheaply and flights with Sleazy Jet are pretty cheap. I really can't see the point of having a holiday in the UK anymore because it works out so much more expensive :(
When I went to Ibiza for 11 days in June, I paid £100 for the villa and £95 for return flight from Stansted. Compare this the cost of my recent weekend in Cornwall. Fuel £130.00 and accommodation in a very basic B&B was £50 per night for a twin room (£25 per person). So an 11 day stay here would cost me £250 (10 nights) and probably another £100 or so in fuel. With decent hotels much dearer still, it's no great surprise that more people choose to go abroad.
Then of course, there's the weather..............mmmmm nuff said :-?

Last holiday in Cornwall - accomodation free (Uncles garden), fuel total holiday around £150 for over 1000 miles including towing. Weather was good, and it was Cornwall! [smiley=beer.gif]

I'm definitely not knocking Cornwall - I love it and one of my best mates lives there [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Just saying that it's generally damn expensive to holiday in the UK (unless you've got an Uncle who lets you have free accommodation ;D) You certainly have to take pot luck with the weather - when I was in Perranporth a couple of years ago, most of the UK was bathing in sweltering hot sunshine except the coastal areas of Cornwall where we had bl**dy thick fog all day >:(

I would agree there.....if i didnt have a dog.....ok yes i could get a pet passport....but my brother has been down this route with his dog.....he reckoned it was just too much hassle.

I have found Dorset very dog friendly......static van owners dont mind you bringing the dog.....pubs except them....havent found one pub yet that said sorry no dogs....you just have to check out which beaches you can take them on......so Dorset get my vote  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'd be interested to hear of other coastal areas of the UK that are also very dog friendly....its sometimes nice to go somewhere different
