Well Martin.....i like to stay on the coast...where im staying next week is a field away from the beach....i enjoy taking my dog for coastal/beach walks where she can go swimming in the sea....i like visiting/walking to fishing villages....i like watching boats/trawlers.

Pubs.....as long as they serve good food and my dog is welcome i dont mind.....shes a black lab that usually doesnt cause a prob in pubs and just goes to sleep under the table.

Tho last year.....the owner of a pub told me to let her off her lead so she could play with another dog in the bar.....so i did....she then made an immediate beeline for the kitchen out the back!  ;D Labs and food  ;D
I had to go and retrieve her  ;D

Hmm boats rules out Minehead to Ilfracombe except  for pleasure craft and biguns to and from Avonmouth - scenic though, some small villages and a few pubs.

I'd suggest Lizard to Helford, great coastal views, quite a few pubs, lots of ships on the English Channel from Lizzard Point, round a bit and you get stuff in and out of Falmouth - a large natural harbour.

Welsh coast sounds good - where we went there is a good walking area along the edge and you can see Dolphins, bit quite though - everything is spread out.

I'll keep thinking but west side is my speciality, however you will need to drive a bit unless 5 mile walks are your speciality

I am going to be the sad one and say on my Holidays I tend to stay at home and chill out saves on travel and living expenses plus with two youngsters the agony of driving whilst getting in your ear are we there yet?

Walk down the pub, no problem sorted  :)

Went to yarmouth last year, Hopton we stayed at nice place but not really the best.

What no option for spending it on a boat???

Last year it was a trip from the Essex coast to Ijmuiden, up the North Sea Canal to Amsterdam, then 2 weeks down the dutch canals out the end at Flushing acrsoss to Oostende then sail back to Essex.

Every year the sailing club i belong to has a week of racing during the day and socials in the evening so i do that most years.

This year it was a week in Gurnsey, then week at sailing club, been to Oostende couple of times for long weekends and going again in few weeks also having a week at home finishing my conservatory and garage.

Fortunately or unfortunately we have to do 2 holidays a year which are split as follows, 1 week in easter and 3 weeks in summer. The holiday destinations are basically 2: Lebanon because my wifes family lives there and Greece because my family lives there. We usually fly unless we are spending the 3 week holiday ion Greece where i prefer to drive down there while stopping on the way in places that we like. Sometimes if there is a bank holiday we can escape to another place either abroad or within UK.

hehe, it is a bit dangerous getting drunk on the plane. I was fine getting on, but the fact of having no dinner did't help!

I was travelling on my own, so i just got drunk on my own and was quiet as a mouse!

Good job i got my trips to the states when i did, its harder to fly standby now with these baggage issues.

Thats usually my method  ;D

I went to Boston a few years ago.....11 hour flight....and im a smoker  :(
No other option really other than to get drunk on the plane fall asleep and wake up just in time for the landing  ;D

Short haul flights 2/3/4 hours and i can get by ok  ;)

An 11 Hour flight to Boston!!!!!!!!!!!
What did you fly in a Tiger Moth
The last time I flew to Boston it was 5 Hours
