my leather seats - OH CRAP
« on: 16 February 2007, 18:21:01 »

I just recieved this from the seller:

"I think the motor has gone on the drivesr seat...so cant move it forwards and backwards to get the bolts out and remove the seat "

I don't think I can get online again tonight, Tunnie, can you discuss with Jaime etc what you think best to do and let me know by dropping me a text? I'm in a meeting for best part of the evening :(

I really wanted these seats. I hope we can still get them, and that seat motors aren't expensive.

IIRC you need a special long handled Allen key drive thingy!

That's supposed to be in the toolkit?

Bloody Seller needs reminding that kneecaps are a privilege, not a right...

Take an angle grinder, Roll the car on it's side, and cut the floor pan mounting points out.

stop by and borrow mine if you don;t have one to hand...

did i mention i used to be a psychopath?

honest , I have a certificate saying I'm alright these days....  :y

There's supposed to be a tool kit?  :o  ;D I used to have quite a decent original tool kit in my Senator (chromed 12v spark plug spanner - the car was 24v! :o & a few spanners) but the only 'tool' that the Omega has is a cheap hollow handled wheel brace that looks as though it'd collapse if you actually used it!  :(

Estates have an insert in the spare wheel which has spare bulbs, leccy seat tool, fuses and such...

Never seen it in a Saloon though  :-/

I seam to remember the tool for leccy seats being square rather than standard allen key.

Just a thought, matchless has an Elite Estate, wonder he has that tool?

Just had a look and you're right! It's square. Judging by how fast it turns when you opperate the seat it'll take you a long time to move it by hand.

My Dad's 1980 MkII Granada has electric seats just forward/backward & up/down but there is a thumb wheel designed into the motor so you don't need any further tools. That takes forever too to move the seat forward or backward.

There is also the standard Opel/Vx black plastic screwdriver, with a reversible flat/cross head...
