Ok more help needed please
« on: 18 February 2007, 21:53:44 »

hi there, thanks for all the help with my last post, that's now well under way to being sorted, can anyone tell me where I can get a owners book for the car ? or even the stereo ?

Secondly, it has cliamte control, am I right in thinking to operate the air con you simply put the unit on auto and turn down the temp ? I do this and it's not that cold.... (may just need to be re-gased) but wanna make sure I'm doing it right first !

Will this towbar listed on ebay 120088357019 from a 97 fit my facelift ?

where is my nearest tech2 dealer ? or member that owns a working tech2 to unlock my cruise control, I have read on ebay that you can reset the ecu by taking the battery off for 30 mins or more, this will let the criuse then work ? (anyone heard of it ?)

And last but not least, where's the best place to get parts from ? I need a glovebox handle, arm rest lid (center arm rest) and possibaly a front bumper (gonna have a word with paint shop get a quote to repair current one)

Manuals for facelift on Vauxhall's website, along with audio.

Disconnecting battery will do nothing, except cause you to have to reset windows, sunroof, and reenter codes in radio. Whoever said disconnect battery would 'reset' ECU was pulling your leg ;)

Only a real Tech2 will enable cruise, and it needs to be fully authorised by a valid copy of TIS (ie registered with Vx)

i'd take the aircon to a specalist... best leave climate on auto all the time (i do)

Check the condenser for leaks, a dye is usually put in with the gas (can be green, red or blue) look around for that for any obvious leaks. A decent aircon place with vac it first (suck out the gas) and put some harmless gas in and pressure test for leaks.

Worth changing the pollen filter too...

andy stockton at asautocare.co.uk in Widnes

Is the towbar EC approved - think it came in in 1998 All cars post that date have to have a type approved towbar - Hardly any difference between them post/ pre approval date - BUT wrong type ie not EC approved might invalid insurance

For parts try Hills vehicle dismantlers hills-motors.co.uk  at Skem.

They're not parts I've bought but I'd be expecting brand new in the bag with a Vx hologram on it for that kind of price.

Went to my local sracp yard, would you belive it a half striped omega facelift ! nice gray / silver colour, they charged me £10 for the glove box door (tho counldn't get it off) did manage to get the handle I needed what a ball ache to change ! did it in the end tho may have damaged on of the hinges on the handle through being heavy handed !

for anyone wanting parts there website is :-

http://www.boldstreetbreakers.co.uk

the facelift model is not on website but phone them it's there today 24/02

the climate control unit in dash is removed (I know I did it) it's missing the center armrest bit, and most of the radio area (surround still there, some switchs there
