Veccy insurance - words fail me
« on: 14 September 2007, 12:54:13 »

I've been made an offer on the Veccy which I've accepted - more about that later.

I've just spoken to the insurance, who have said they sent the cheque already. However - the cheque will be MINUS the excess on my policy - £250.

Why?? The third party has already admitted liability, so why the heck should I be penalised for my excess???

She said to me "once the legal team have claimed the costs back, we will re-imburse you the excess also"

So I have to wait for 2 seperate cheques

I shouldn't really moan, I have been made a FANTASTIC, HUMONGOUS offer... but still... their red tape gets on my wick!!!

Are you getting to keep / buy back the car? - breaking the lpg out of it would be profitable... :-/

The inspection from the engineer shows that there is no damage other than cosmetic - but it's still not economical to repair cost wise.

They've offered me a very hansome "cash in lieu" settlement, whereas they give me a figure, and I get to keep the car. The Car will not be recorded on any write-off databases whatsoever, and it is perfectly safe and legal to be used on the road (engineers report says this).

I also have a buyer for the Veccy, collecting tomorrow morning, who is fully aware of the entire situation, and again, has made me an offer I can't refuse.

So I will definately come out laughing - their red tape just winds me up.

I know the feeling mate.
Someone backed into my drivers door 15 months ago & I've just had my excess returned to me today!

Not yet we don't....

Once everything is complete then James may choose to share the information.
Until that time I would be keeping quiet.

Well actually I would just be keeping quiet. :)

I would check with them James. Your insurer should be able to claim the excess back from the 3rd party if they are admitting liability.
