Want more toys, what is feasible?
« on: 04 March 2007, 23:03:43 »

So i bought my GLS 2.5 V6 omega last week, seeing how i only paid £275 for it and that it's in actually quite good nick i think i got a bit of a bargain, however i was slightly dissapointed by the lack of bells and whistles.

What i want to know is what is feasible to add to it, i'm presuming the wiring loom will have all the relevant connections for more toys but i just need to add the other bits.

I would like electric windows in the back to start with, is this do-able or not really worth bothering with?

Wouldn't mind cruise control either as i use the motorway most days for getting to work, i've already seen the guid on here for adding this and i can see myself giving it a go when i get all the bits.

Also is the computer updateable, at the mo all I have is the time, date and outside temp and i guess it'd be nice to be able to see my MPG and such like.  My guess is that i won't be able to do anything about this but i'd just like it verifying.

I had a 1.6 escort previous to the omega that had and there is no contest comfort and power wise, my biggest dissapointment is not having any air-con in the omega, it was a godsend in the escort for the past few summers (even if it did drink petrol like it was going out of fashion) and having a sunroof is just not the same :)

Rear windows should be relatively easy if you get all the bits (they'll be plentiful as most models had them) although you might also need the looms. Cruise is an easy and worthwhile upgrade as you've discovered. Rear blind should also be an easy one, although the benefit is questionable. Not sure about the other upgrades, and you can forget air con that would be a nightmare. Sunroofs are great though, I use mine quite a lot even though it's got climate.

Its a rare Omega if it has no aircon....must be mid 90's as you could have aircon or a sunroof...

Rear electric windows is easy, you need.

Rear door looms
Rear switches
Front switches
Rear motor assemblies...
Rear door cards.

Cruise is also easy....

As is auto dimming rear view mirror, projector headlight upgrade and fog upgrade
