Quick Question

can the engine be removed without dropping the gearbox? IE: by removing rad, bell housing bolts, engine mounts etc... then moving it forward and up..... if not whats the easiest way?
 
if i can get away without dropping the box then thats the ideal scenario.

Generally yes, can't say for sure w/ Omega.  You really want one of those 'load balancing' thingies on the hoist to tilt the motor/tranny though.  Again not sure with Omega, but sometimes easiest way out is down with tranny and subframe/struts.

Peice of cake on the 2.0.... we removed the engine and just left the gearbox in place.

Then offered the new engine up to the gearbox that was in situ. Took a bit of wiggling back in, but it worked.

You'll need scuttle off, for access. Don't forget all the gearbox bolts at the bottom, there are a few of them.

You'll find the gearbox moves very freely when not attached to the engine..

great cheers james. just its lookin more and more likely that im going to have to do it outside my house with my dads hoist and some help haha. my "mate" just decided to tell me he's going away this weekend  ::) great for last min change of plans.

at least i know it can be done may be a bit tight. how many bolts are holdin the engine in?

bell housing? 4, 6, 8? size?
mounts (just the two?) size? how to access?

sorry was supposed to be a quick question but..... :-[
