I was "slipping" for a couple of days, then it's just like when a clutch can't grip in a manual, it makes a lot of noise and high revs when in any gear, but won't pull the car more than about 30mph :(

What are your plans James? Few Ideas....

* Fit Replacement Autobox?
* Convert to Manual?
* Break...

Tbh you have had a few cars recently.... is it worth pushing the boat out for a facelift? Plenty of 2.0 / 2.2's out there, the later 4pots are much more refined. LPG it and your away  :D

My plans?

They are like this

Something that has more than half and engine (Eg a V6) preferably a 3 litre, and doesn't sound like a tractor.

Something with Climate Control

There are still many sellable bits from my old V6 that could help with contributing.

Manual conversion, forget it, I want auto.

On the plus side, I now have a job that is only 9 miles from home, rather than doing 500 miles a week..... so fuel economy is not such an issue anymore... meaning I could potentially have something mega beastly.

LPG, I would love it, but I'm considering the option of possibly getting a brand new SGI kit for a V6 instead, as Martin says, get it all perfect over the summer.

I will have a think, not committing to anything yet.

Another problem is that I've had so many changes of car, my insurance are getting funny about it :(

And now are the later 4 pots more refined? Aren't they mechanically the same?

i think there were some mechanical changes the 2.0 around 97... balancing shafts were added.

2.2's are a stroked 2.0.

You can easily change insurance  ;)

A 3.2 springs to mind then  ;)

Forget LPG'ing it.....you'll never get your money back doing 18 miles a day plus the odd run

Is it worth dropping the sump and having a look?

Might just need a retorque and new oil

The kit you have - if you don't use it sell on Ebay as spares or repair.

If you do get a V6 get a Romano setup - better injectors than OMVL
