Removing the wheel nut covers
« on: 25 March 2007, 13:42:32 »

Was jut about to go and get some tyres for my Omega for it's MOT on wednesday but have just noticed that there was no key supplied with the car for getting the wheel bolt cover off.

Where can i pick these up from and is there a better method than a hammer and screwdriver for removing them without?

On my CDX, my wheel key broke whilst changing a wheel at the roadside... well overtightened... thankfully I had tools in the boot, I was able to tap it around with a punch and a hammer... else I would have been shafted...

One time when I had a tyre changed at a local tyre depot, the fitter didn't bother with the key, although it was in the boot, he just located both jaws of some long nosed pliers in the holes and turned it with a screwdriver between the jaws. Novel idea but it worked o.k.
