Cam Cover Gaskets - advice?
« on: 24 March 2007, 20:05:26 »

Changing my passenger cam cover gaskets tomorrow.  Just checked Marks_DTM's guide, and what bits I have in garage.

Gaskets themselves - Yes
8 O rings - Yes
Black Sealant - Yes

But I am missing the red gaskets that go on the intake...  ...do you think I'll get away with it?

Also, I'm just thinking that last time I did the plugs was when I did drivers side gasket - thats gotta be 20 - 30k ago, so worth changing them as well? (Assuming I have a set in the garage)

I don't remember needing to change any gaskets if the plenum O-rings are OK.  I'm pretty sure I left the ones at the base of the risers.

I did replace the red ones when I did the drivers side.  And plenum ones. I have spare plenum ones anyway...

For what it's worth, pop some new plugs in... worth getting some if you don't have any, while it's all accessible

If I have some, they will go in.  If I haven't, they won't (based on the fact I can't face a trip to Banbury)...

I guessed you have higher priorities than cdl motor, so no hurry.  Mine often works, just intermittent...

That's not so much the issue... the problem is, that I only have one breaker left... and the drivers side is parked right up against a wall... so I can't get the doorcard etc off.... I can't start the car due to lack of several engine components.... so I need some means of dragging it over ;D

Well, if I could get the compressor in there to power it, then not a problem :)

Although, I can see me probably prising and hacking the door card away to get at it..... as soon as I've got my engine bits off it... that car's going to be crushed.....
