Cam and crank sensor change 2.0 Ecotec
« on: 30 March 2007, 08:43:59 »

I want to change the cam and crank sensors on my Omega 2.0 16V Ecotec, I think that the wire connection for the crank sensor runs over the top front of the engine, and connects to another wire that runs into the loom in front of the cambelt cover wich then runs back to the ECU (please correct me if I'm wrong).  The problem is, that I dont know where the wire from the cam sensor gose to. It seems to go from the cam sensor (top front of engine) coms out of the front drivers side of engine and then runs under the wiring loom that runs along the side of the cam cover (front to back, drivers side). can anyone please tell me where this wire connects to. had a look last night but lost track of it between the inlet man, and loom.

Thanks.

Camsensor wire plugs directly into the sensor. Have to remove cambelt cover to release the fixing bolt.
Crank sensor is difficult to reach, you probably wont be able to get a socket on to the bolt so try a small 12pt ring spanner, 6mm or 7mm iirc. Cable routing is difficult, tie a string to the old plug before you pull out the old wire and use it to draw the new one in. If you cant get the cable to follow the old route then find a new path through the Aux mounting bracket and tiewrap away from the exhaust manifold.

Thanks Matchless, Yes I can do the cam sensor, but I dont know where the cable from the top of the sensor ends up. I want to replace this wiring as well.

I would guess that the cam sensor cable runs in the main engine loom to the multiplug by the battery and then on to the ecu
