Good start to the holiday.
« on: 06 April 2007, 15:59:20 »

Going on holiday in the early hours tomorrow, been out washing car all morning only to find a bad oil leak. When i got the car on the ramps i found the leak up buy the oil filter.

When the car is running it pours out. Tried getting a spanner in there with out any luck, any suggestions ?

Oil cooler pipe

Needs a crows foot spanner (19mm?) to get at...

I wouldn't tighten it though, I'd see if there are any seals etc that have failed causing the leak...

So, when was the oil cooler changed without removing the cooler pipes.......you might get better access if you pop the crank sensor out, idealy you would remove the oil filter housing.

Sorry to hear about the oil leak Dave.

Is the pipe loose? Is the oil coming past the pipe and the nut? If it is then i would be tempted to take the pipe off, as you have already tried tightening it up, and seeing if an 'o' ring has perished on the pipe into the filter. A stop gap to get you going due to the 'Bank Holiday' i would try some plumber's tape (PTFE white stuff) around the pipe end and see if you can tighten this up to stop the flow of oil. Let us know how you get on. :'( :'(
