Steering Box - Where best for exchange service

Hi folks,
Can anyone advise a company that will supply a re-conditioned Steering Box for my 2.5TD ('94).
  
The problem is the place I use to work on my car is a working garage and although they are happy for me to do any work on my car, I can't take my steering box off and leave the car there for a few days whilst the recon work is done on my original box.

I need to find somewhere that can supply a re-conditioned box and then do refund on mine when the jobs completed.

Any suggestions ?

I have a ZF unit (No. 8052 974 111)

Given that they rarely fail, why not consider a low mileage second hand unit....

i maybe able to source one from a local scrap yard, i know there is a '95 TD Select in there....

Mine's done 220k, so it's not a bad innings.
 
I'm up for anything folks (Steady now !).  My mate owns a breakers, but as you say, unless the car has been involved in an accident they rarely have them in.

Tunnie, Could you find out if it's compatible with mine( No. 8052 974 111), or d'ya have their phone No.

This scrappy is an old skool one just have to look in the cars yourself, its a '95 2.5TD Select (poverty spec) so not sure if it will fit  :-/

That will be a sod to remove, as someone has nicked the wheels, and its in a puddle....

Sounds like a pig of a job to get that one from the scrappies near you, Tunnie.  I've been quoted between £150-£200 to recondition mine.

They are reliable, ask someone who is breaking a car ;)

Steering is all over the place.  Very vague. When I turn the wheel the car moves about a second later. The tyres are wearing on the outer edges. I've tried to adjust the box via the nut and grub screw, but as I turned the screw I could hear and feel the bearings crunching. It's well knackered inside.
