Or the selector switch connection......

Get underneath and confirm the simple stuff is all ok i.e. connectors etc....also check the large multiway connectors near the battery to make sure they are all well secured...

Will do mate, I'll do it all after work at 4.

I'd appreciate as much advice as possible from anyone with any ideas, about what to check, exactly where to check it and where it is :)

Balls... it was going to well... the engine sounds like a beast though.. really nice.. so I hope this can be resolved :(

No fuses blown? I notice my auto box fuse is different to all the others, suggesting it has blown in the past.

Sounds like the gearbox ECU isn't controlling the gearbox for some reason and the lack of warnings makes me think it's something simple like no power or a connector off somewhere.

I could have sworn there was a Howto from Mark on here with the fuse numbers but I can't find it today. It's one of the fuses in the main fusebox in the driver's footwell, a 10 amp one, middle row towards the left hand side IIRC, but have a general look for blown fuses, loose relays and connectors both there and in the underbonnet fuse box.

AFAIK the ECU should be behind the right hand Fascia panel " Damn Mark beat me to it "
check winter mode switch as well....   mine did something similar (but not i think , exactly the same) , and it turned out to be the switch being seized/jammed

check fluid levels and cooler connections??

If the car will get here, I can stick it on Tech2. That will show what the ECU thinks is wrong (though not necessarily what is wrong).  Is MID right one for car, if it came from manual, no g/box warnings will appear.
