So, was it REALY a headgasket failure......or a 'herrang rouge' plus poor diagnosis....

As for the heating etc.....they have buggered the re-fitting of the vac pipes after fitting the replacement head gaskets.....

And the passenger side can be done without removing the engine.....but, both sides shoudl be perfect as the exhaust manifolds should have been removed when skimming the heads so there shoudl be nice new ones fitted....and hopefully they were Vx ones (the cheap composite ones are rubbish)

I was asking for me there Mark, mine are ticking and I fancy having a go at them one day...

Damn Damn Damn. I took it to a different garage this morning on way to work and it is the tappets. He said maybe just one oilway blocked.

So what now. do i do another oil and filter change

Oil and filter, then some more lifter treatment - stay away from engine flush unless you want ALL oil ways blocked!!

You might have a failed lifter altogether, but apparently this is very noisey - and if its coming and going, more unlikely..

The Forte engine flush is pretty good......and under written by Vauxhall
