Windscreen Trim

The rubber trim around the outside of my windscreen has become detached at the sides.   Nearly jumped out of my skin when it happened on the motorway - the vertical bit on the drivers side wrapped itself round the door window - thought I'd hit something.   The near side is also quite loose.

I don't want to take the windscreen out just to replace it (as the Autoglas chap in my work carpark said was necessary ).   Is there a suitable adhesive to stick it back with?

Hi Ian,

Don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that Jim fitted his door mouldings to the car using some windscreen bonding stuff, he might be able to point you in the right direction...

A reasonable screen silicon should do it...

The rubber trim clips into a plastic moulding that clips onto the edge of the screen.....when the screen is changed this plastic moulding (there is one on each edge) should be replaced.....you can guess how many outfits follow that advice....

I'm in the market for a new screen so how do I get the monkeys that my insurer recommends to do it.  Is this on TIS and if so can you quote it?  then I can argue they have not done the job properly
