So would you trust it?

Omega 3.0l Estate, Elite...

Service History appears consistent, last 12-18 months appears to be DIY.  Receipts for Cam belt kit approx 8000 miles ago.

HBV was back to front, causing overheating and huge over pressure.  Possibly the reason the header tank was replaced some months ago.

Fuse had gone to main rad fan.

Oil was within limits, but on the low side.

I'm now wary of the history...

So would you trust it, or should I be looking at full service and Cam kit change?

Personally, I'd do a full service and get the Cambelt / Tensioners / Waterpump replaced to be 100% sure.

i gave my car a good look over, then took it to vx for a free check over. then took it to a garage and had a full service, then got the full cambelt kit and pump changed

sometimes if a car is in good enough condition even with a sketchy history, if its cheap enough to buy and to get all your concerns re-done just to be sure, could well be worth it

I agree - but do it yourself or use a garage you can trust. I had mine in at the stealers today for a cambelt and tensioners change and there is not so much as a thumbprint in the engine bay. I doubt they even lifted the bonnet!  >:(

VX quoted me £252 to do my full cambelt job and said they'd need to keep my car for 2 days!!

Ok, that seems to be a fairly quick consensus!  Thanks - backs up what I was thinking really.  Car is in overall excellent condition - no smoke, rust free bodywork (two bubbles), and some stone chips on bonnet.  Oh and the driver heated seat not working.

Will prob do service myself and bob it to a garage I trust for cam kit.

No way it's going near the local Vx dealers - aside from cost, last time I had a car there they put a ruddy great dent in the wing (Nowt to do with us, sir...)
