like an "oil rig "
« on: 29 April 2007, 16:07:40 »

How do we ever stop these damn things leaking oil...the last 2 megas I have owned seem to to have the inability to stop leaking oil....have had both rockers full replaced and these are now totally dry...breather pipes are so clean they glow..but today have noticed oil collecting on the front r/h bottom of engine along the bolt line of sump..directly below air con compressor...rinsed it off with hose this morning but after driving home some 120 miles from work it is back...bottom of sump is clean..just this area around front..any ideas or should i just accept the inevitable

One possible, is the oil pressure sensor down in the bottom front end area, about £5 from Vx...

The favourite actualy is taht when the cam covers were replaced that to much sealent was used around the front cam bearings....if so it blocks the oil returns from the cam seals....the oil behind the seals gets pressurised and they leak...

So am I right in thinking, that to solve the possible leak, the cam covers need replacing again???

To put it more accurately......they need replacing correctly... :y

If genuine gaskets were used.....you should be able to re-use them...
