Fault code 19

Car has been running a bit rough for some time. It starts fine every time, but it just doesn't seem to have the same pull it use to have. Anyway, just checked the codes and got a 19, which is an incorrect RPM signal (thanks to Mark's fault code list in the FAQ section on here, for that). That seems to point to an iffy crank sensor. I know a dud sensor can cause non-starting, but can it cause a lack of power?

Yes, that's how mine failed. A few turns before it started and ran rough.

I have just replaced crank shaft sensor on my 2.5 elite as very erratic running with eml and gearbox lights coming on like a christmas tree...amazing the car still ran..anyway replaced old sensor today and all seems fine..words of advise...make sure you buy the correct one as plug is different and a slight difference with the mounting fitting...there is also a noticable price difference...also after good advise from forum found it easier to leave old wire in place and just cut of old plug and sensor..care re routing new cable away from hot parts and cable tie to either brake pipes or air con pipe..best of luck ..its quite straight forward but your car will run smoother again

Change it anyway - it WILL let you down.  Then see if it fixes the power issue...

Never done a crank sensor before. Trying to identify which of the two types it is. I have taken off the scuttle panel and found this connector, which I assume is the sensor plug.

Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the right connector and can anyone identify which one I need, Can't see any numbers stamped on the connector.
