Actuator bracket for cruise
« on: 08 May 2007, 09:47:32 »

I tried to fit cruise control to my car over the weekend following hotel21's guide. The problem I have is that I do have the auxiliary circulation pump mentioned in the guide and don't have the right bracket to hold the actuator and the pump. Could anyone give me a part number for this or does anyone have a spare? Are these pumps not common as all cruise kits I've seen have the normal bracket.
Cheers!

what you need is the rubber mount that holds a pump on the right hand side of the radiator.  Pop the bonnet open and look to your right, you should see it.  Best place is from a breaker (get the clips that hold it on).  I've got the part number at home so I'll look it up as well.

Edit: had a dig around last night and could not find it - sorry

Yep there isn't a real bracket. Omega's with cruise as standard don't have that pump.

You can either modify the existing pump bracket - not ideal and you have to be creative - or make some holes for the other pump bracket in the cruise bracket.

OK, thanks for your help. In the how to, it shows a rubber pump holder which has been attached to the cruise actuator bracket:

And in the desription it is mentioned that holes need to be drilled etc, but the actual rubber bit is different to mine, mine's like the standard one in this picture:

So there must be another part somewhere, as I'm not sure how I could mangle mine to get it how I'd need it. Not sure I'd want to either!
Cheers.

I used the existing pump bracket and bent it into a Z shape so that the pump clears the air box. Not as neat as getting the proper rubber mount but it works.

Trying to get my head around what you've actually done there! Have you just bent the existing bends even more? Looks alright to me, may try and get a spare first in case I bodge it.
Thanks!

Yes they did, if it was specced with climate control and cruise from new.

The alternative rubber is part number 90469353.  Simply drill a couple of holes in the standard actuator bracket and use circlips or similar to hold it in place as per the howtoo.  Or, as also suggested, get the pump holder bracket from the area of the top right of the radiator from a scrap car and modify that to suit.  The original bracket was not that dear from the dealer, though, as far as I can recall.

Yes I've just bent it a bit more. I bolted the top front hole in the pump bracket to the top unused hole in the cruise module bracket and then fitted the cruise module but the bottom pump bracket hole went over stud that the font bottom cruise module bracket fits on. I tried with the read hole in the pump bracket first but the pump was too near the engine and pipes. I had to bend both of the existing bends to make sure the pump didn't foul the engine or the air box and to give clearance for the power connector near the cruise module.

Some more pics at the link below, pic0022 to 0025, the first two were from my first attempt and the second two show it as it is now.

I beg to differ. I've never seen an original Vx fitted cruise module with water pump and no one has ever produced a picture of said item either here or on the other place.

A friend with a near identical facelift Elite estate has cruise and climate so I had a look and hey presto no pump. The bracket that is sort of listed on the EPC has nowhere to mount.

Fair enough, no intention of arguing.  I simply re-iterated info from others who are well respected on here who say that it was, coupled with the EPC part number.

If it wasn't, why are there the bits to retrofit, if such an option was not available from the factory?
