How many miles do you find the SP9000 last?

You just have to be gentle getting the back end back in check, too hard or too fast will send you in to a spin.

I use this guy for the wifes car, gonna start using him for mine. An hours drive but probably worth it.

Over 50 each used!?

I got 4 Nankangs new for 150+VAT delivered.  Don't remember the website, but one of the normal ones.

Yeah. But the point is...I'm not using budget again, and these are bridgestone.

i changed to dunlops, a lot tougher tyer that wears a lot better, has excellent grip

We found Dunlop SP9000's to be $hite on tyre wear, even though they do grip well, as you say. There's always a compromise. The dealer fit 'kleber' tyres wear poorly as well.

Anybody got Eagle F1 Goodyears??? Think they're gonna be the next to try. Heard a few horror stories about Michelin 'Energy' tyres on other cars (even though not avaible for mig), they don't grip much when cold  :o

Eagle F1's .... best tyres I have EVER had on the Omega!
Expensive, but quite simply superb.
Quiet, super grippy wet and dry and wear seemed very good too.

You can get expensive and/or name brand tires that are cr@p in the wet too.  Nothing is assured.  All you can do is ask around.  Those are probably fine.

FWIW the Nankangs seem very safe, mild understeer in the dry, the others were shockingly bad in the wet.  However, I'm not running around telling people what to get.

Did you find that they wore out very quickly?

I agree with everything you have said about them as well, they are truely the best tyre i have used, i was only getting about 8/10,000 miles out of a set on a FWD car, i would dread sticking a set on my miggy

And they look good as well, especially the GSD2's

I replaced my rear tyres about four monthe ago with Nexens. I was quite pleased with them and told other forum members (Theo, I seem to remember) that they were OK. Yesterday I was coming off a roundabout in wet weather, I was doing about 35mph in third and floored it. I lost the back end completely. Wifey sh*t herself and afterwards commented that, if I hadn't been such an experienced driver, it could have been nasty. Bridgestone going on before winter sets in. :o

On a lighter note, I asked aforesaid Wifey what she would have done. She made no bones about it---"Closed my eyes until the car stopped moving"

Kinnell :'(
You've certainly put me off placing your motor on the London brick companys finest and avin it away with your wheels :D

I have Nexens on the Omega, LOADS of tread on them.

Now in the dry, no problem at all, as Maria will confirm, cornering was very good ;)

Tonight, doing a sedate 40mph around a (big) roundabout, damp roads,  I turned off for my exit, and nearly ended up facing in the direction I came from !!! I was not pushing the car at all!

I was thankfully able to keep her on course and not hit anything!

That would never have happened with any other Make of tyre I've had..

Those Nexens have gotta go....  ;D

I thought mine had gone hard from being old, but maybe they started that way?  ::)

Nankangs have a lot of tread walk, great in the wet, decent in the dry.  Can't complain for the price.

The same thing happened to me not long after leaving Broocie's back in August, on the entry road to the M74 was wet and raining. Gave me a bit of a shock as this is the first time this has happenned. The road surface was the white looking tarmac, I put it dwon to the road surface and the fact there may have been something else on it. My daughter got a wee fright and thankfully there were'nt any cars close behind etc.. And TC never came on..Oh and have Pirelli P zeros.
