« on: 21 May 2007, 17:38:54 »

Hi All again,

I have just seen a mid comp for sale, it has one yellow plug on it, I have a black one and a yellow one on mine, will it still work, is the black one just for the radio???

Thanks, Mark.  :o

Never knew there was this type.  The pre 98 ones have a yellow and a black connector. Post 98 have a single grey one

Well I hope so, I won it on ebay, got the complete dash with mid on it, for £2.49, so its worth a gamble.

Has a go at fixing mine with instructions from a website, the bits that did'nt work do now, but the ones that did don't. So i give up on that, to fiddly. It's not a very good design, they should have put connectors on  it, like mobile phones, at least then you could get the ribbons, and have a good connection. But i suppose its all about money.

I think, unlike mobile phones, the display was never going to be a servicable item, rather entire swapout.  Earlier type did seem to suffer, later ones are normally reliable...

Just thought i would update you all, got the dash today, as she said there is just a yellow plug, but is not a mid, more a tid i think, has only half screen, and shows only clock and radio info, allthough it is perfect working order, not even one pixel out of place.

So if anyone interested, its here surplus to requirements.

Might whack it on ebay, recoupe some of the dosh i have spent on the car recently.

Thanks All.....

I've swapped them out many times.

The single yellow is just a TID and not an MID - but slots in just perfectly. As said all you will get is Time, Temp & Radio and a VERY basic set of warning lamps - NO sensor displays like LOW FLUID or HEADLAMP CHECK.

If you have a standard Tid with yellow plug on it I'd be interested in it as I need one for my parents veccy B - I guess it will fit.  Drop me a PM with your price and we will see if we can work something out

Does any one know if it is possible to fit the newer mid for the omega the one with the single grey/black plug, into my older omega with a yellow and black plug????

I have tried all places to get one of these, i have tried fixing it, its a little better, but not really readable.

I have called Vauxhall, they quoted £338.00 for a new one, plus fitting is £75, Now i dont know about you, but i find that just a wee bit extortionate. So much in fact, it's more than i paid for the car itself.

Has anyone been able to rewire these????  or even have a wiring diagram of the 2, to match them together.

Any help on this subject would be marvellous.
