COOLANT PUMP
« on: 07 June 2007, 12:05:33 »

I have an overheat prob (still the same one). I have had a new water pump fitted, done the rad flush, done the coolant flush.

There is a pump that fits near the coolant tank carrying water but the pump as not working hense i think why heat prob. I have got the fans running constant when engine on thinking it was that.

Can any one help me as to what i need to be asking for at a parts shop i have Vaxhall dixons spares 2 miles from me.

I think you need to get somebody to check the surface of the radiator for cold spots using a temp probe because if a proportion of it is clogged up then flushing wont shift it.

The additional coolant pump only runs at higher temps, it takes a small amount of the output coolant and passes it back to the input for further cooling so it unlikely to be the cause.

Mark ( not wishing to question the oracle but...)

I think D_M may be referring to the aux pump underneath the coolant tank not he one on the right hand side of the radiator.  i.e. the one that mounts onto the same place as the cruise module.

My coolant located aux pump runs permenantly never looked at the other one by the rad.

I am reffering to the one on the rad....the one under the coolant tank is only fitted to 3.0 V6 cars and is used to speed up cabin heating.

I have a spare rad you can have if its of any use.

Was just thinking that. It would make a nice challenge in between barbecues and beer sessions to get it fixed. It would certainly leave the lakes working.

Hmm, that's interesting.  I've definitely got one under the coolant tank 'cos i had to move it when I fitted the cruise module, that's on a 2.5
