2.2 ECU part numbers
« on: 11 June 2007, 10:31:32 »

Does anyone know what are the part numbers for the 2.2 ECU's ?. Are they different between the auto and manual ?. The ECU I bought came from a manual, and I want to check if it will work on my auto before giving the dealer even more dosh to code the key to it !.

Not sure if there are variations in the ECUs for other reasons, but all the 'configs' are done in software, and needs to be correctly configured (ie, gearbox/aircon/cruise etc) via Tech2.

Thanks for that. I'll away to the dealer and ask him to code the ECU to suit. Any guesses how much he will ask for ?. Should I start a poll!

Oh Dear. Just got back from EH, and they were'nt  happy about this at all, fitting second hand bits, oh no. He eventually agreed to do it, but was talking about 5 hrs to clear the new ECU and reprogram it. And of course being second hand, it might not program!!. When I was leaving, I asked him to enable cruise control. He said "you can't do that, it will be reprogrammed the way it left the factory, I can't enable things like that". He did suggest that I take the ECU away and get it cleared myself, said people in Autotrader do this, which I thought was a strange suggestion. Perhaps he has had problems using Tech2 in the past, and doesn't want any hastle. It would be cheaper to hire TB for the day and send a limo to transport him !.

Ah, you never mentioned it was Evans Halshaw....

5 hours  :o

If it can be done (and I have never tried), it will be a few mins.  And cruise can be enabled in 5 mins (and most of that is plugging the Tech2 into the PC)....

I wish you were closer  >:(
