Air Con
« on: 23 June 2007, 11:59:18 »

My air con has never really been cold. I haven't got round to a regas yet. However when I used to switch it on, the revs increased slightly and it worked in principle.
Now when I switch it on there is no noise or engine speed changes. The switch lights up but thats about it. Which part is broken?

Possibly not enough gas - it will only engage if the pressure is high enough.  Not sure if live feed on Tech2 can show this. I will go out and try now...

Just checked, I reckon Tech2 (or similarly capable scanners) can pick it up if its a Climate car under Body > Electronic Climate Control > Data Display, looking for value A/C cutoff. I think this may be Active if the ECO switch pressed, but also if refridgerant is low, but would need to dig a little more to confirm...

I had a carlton diplomat with the same symptoms, it just needed regassing, when it gets below a certain pressure it refuses to work in order to protect itself

Thanks again peeps. I suspect it is just regas. More money. There is not a lot left on the car that doesn't need fixing  :'(

I realised yesterday that although my air con works it's now not as cold as it used to be. A re-gas is probably in order.

Sounds like it.

A/C packed up in tractor again (didn't work when I got it, then sprung in to life, not gone again), so I reckon that needs a regas.
