Hi did you clean out all the breather system or just some of it?
Breathers had been previously cleaned out. Just noticed the small breather pipe had split.
The rubber bit from underneith the black breather box has fallen off
I don't blieve this was disturbed although I may be wrong. I think the plenum came off and went back on with the breather still attached....
EML does come on when ignition first turned on doesnt it?
Yep. EML was working fine but no fault codes

[quoteGlueing is not a good idea on the vac res. You never know whether the glue is blocking the inside of the union or not. I domt think they're that expensive to replace[/quote]
Agreed, and I'll be surprised if the glue's still holding but it was the best we could do. Given that the pipe was swinging loose at the start of the job I doubt this has changed anything TBH.
The SAI pump cutting out is probably coincidence, but easy enough to eliminate by unplugging the pump.
I did think of trying this but another thought overtook it and we never did. Might be worth a shot.
It certainly seems as if something the ECU does after a certain period of idling kills it dead. It runs OK under load, but 30 seconds of idling and it cuts as if the ignition has been chopped. No misfire, no noises under the engine bay, just stops dead.

Possibly just the engine heating up enough before the crank sensor fails
Could be but wouldn't we have seen a fault code?
It is a wierd one.
Another thought. I suppose the engine management light hasn't been wired to the airbag light or something stupid to stop it bleating? Might be forth a paper clip test just to ensure it's OK and see if there is any clue stored?
