Hi,

My clutch is really high , sometimes slips if i do a bit of drifting. Is it cable clutch on the 2.5 v6 cd? , if so can i adjust it so the bite is lower?

clutch is of hydraulic type try bleeding the slave cylinder for better clutch pedal

there is a bleed nipple on the side of the gearbox,get some one to press clutch pedal up and down seven times on down stroke hold pedal down ,open nipple let fluid flow then close nipple,repeat procedure a few times until pedal is better,hope this helps

shoukd bring bitting point down,but like miggy said if this does not work could need new clutch

i dont suppose you have a pic of where the bleed nipple is?

sorry don't have pic but if any help should be on drives side of gear box just before bell housing

The bleed nipple is fairly obvious on the side of the gearbox.

The only proper way to bleed the gearbox (according to the Vx TIS) is a reverse pressure bleed. It's because of the long vertical pipe run.

It's not that bad: get a pressure bleed kit, rearrange the pipes and attach to the bleed nipple. Pressurise kit, open nipple and use a turket baster to take out the excess fluid from the resevoir.

If the clutch needs replacing you'll need to bleed it afterwards anyway.

Clutch (OEM) LUK part is about £120 from bypartsby.co.uk. Vx charge more.

If your Clutch is beginning to slip it sounds like you may need a new clutch. That said I have a 3 litre manual where the clutch is perfectly fine (no slipping) but the biting point is and always has been a little higher then I would prefer. A main dealer with a good service department (yes I know they are very rare) were honest enough to say we could put in a new clutch but we couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t be exactly the same and that the present one was perfectly OK. It’s been like this now for the last 5 years working fine but with a slightly raised biting point.

The clutch isnt slipping. Unless i hold it on the bite for minute or so (but i think any car would slip then)

The problem i have is it is really high. After the bite there is about 2-3mm travel left.

So if i want to do a bit of drifting and want to flick the back end out off the clutch it doesnt do it as good
