HBV Again?
« on: 20 July 2007, 06:10:47 »

Changed my HBV about three weeks ago & all was good.
Got home yesterday & could smell coolant as I got out of the car & there was a puddle forming underneath :o
Popped the bonnet & it's coming from the same place again.

So are they liable to fail so quickly?  >:(

never seen them go that quick.

Did the old one look failed? HBV may not have been issue, there is a coolant transfer pipe back there as well....

There were no obvious signs of failure but Timbuk (who's changed a few & saw the old one) said there isn't always & all's been fine for almost three weeks.

Was it a genuine item or a pattern part?

It was from Vx but didn't have the markings on it that the old one had  :-/

Still take it back, even without the receipt, they know you bought it from there, they can look through their records if need be.

Oh I will when (cough, cough) I get round to changing it.

Does anyone know if Vx have changed their supplier? I don't want the ****** thing failing every few weeks.......

Just a thought; but I drained the radiator the day before it began to leak & filled with only coolant 'cos there was mainly only water in there after the previous leak, would this have an effect on the HBV?

Failing after three weeks?

Mate of mine recently had two fail on his fiesta.  ford told him that they had a 'dodgy batch'

could be the same if Vx have change supplier.

Re your receipt - did you pay by cheque or credit card?  Take that as proof of purchase, as long as you have some proof you'll be ok. TBH, if the valve has failed then the dealer should change it for you.

Good luck
