Drain Hole Passenger Side
« on: 23 July 2007, 20:42:32 »

I was one of many who had water in the passenger well Boooo

Unblocked the passenger side drain point I had about 3 inch of water in there.
Does the water get into the passanger well throught the pollen filter area ? I checked the Pollen filter and it was dry, I am alittle worried about the climate fan being damaged. If its Blowing air now Is it ok Sounds daft i know just want to know.

Car stinks now its going to take some time to get rid of that smell Yuck

Ill keep my eye on this drain point to make sure it does not lock again

Right, sorry to hijack this thread (may have to make a newie for some more exposure!) but I have also had a VERY damp passenger footwell. "Unblock the passenger side drainholes" you'll all say, well this has been done, checked, and checked again, dried out repeatedly and STILL getting a wet floor  :o

So, onto phase two!?! Don't have a sunroof installed and the seals 'seem' ok. So I consider this theory, it seems to get wet and damp when the climate/aircon is working harder, like hot days? Is there some cooling going on behind the glovebox that may leak some water, but then again, we've had this problem for about a year, the aircon would surely have died if that was the problemo!?!

Sorry for the lengthy shout out but really could do to get to the bottom of it. Car is in constant use so difficult to pull apart and quite frankly, it STINKS!  ;D

Evaporator in car will produce condensation. There should be a drain from it to the underside of the car just above the gearbox. If it is blocked water will accumilate in the footwell and stink. You are talking about 1/2 cupful at worse EACH time!

Ronny, you star, hopefully this gives us something to go at! You're right, it isn't just damp, it's actually swilling around in the channels in the floor!

So, I need to be digging around the top of the front footwell then, presumably the hole will be difficult to spot underneath the car? Where approximately is the evaporator located, what does it look like and what is its role???

Sorry for all questions, a wee bit excited that the old boy might not be suffering so much with wet patches in future. Won't have to go into a nursing home after all  ;D

Although generally reliable on Omegas, just double check doorseals, just in case (although that would be wet weather, not hot weather. Same applies to windscreen seal.

Aye, will get the pressure washer on it later that should be the acid test. As you say, they look pretty good and seem to actually have an arrangement of 2 seals, one on the door and one on the frame. It does tow a trailer though and this flexes the body quite a bit.

To anyone reading this, I would be well tempted to check the nsr passenger footwell of your motor regularly, wet floors not something you would usually expect on a modern car so do the usual checks. Don't want rotten floors in your limo!  ;D

The foam on the cover below the passenger glovebox also gets soaked - Id remove it and rinse it and dry it out. Having had repeated wet footwells during June's heavy deluges, I completely removed the valve/drainhole cover from the scuttle drainhole, so there is no impediment to any water collected in there from draining out - and no problems since!
