A few Queries!
« on: 06 July 2007, 19:43:36 »

I have just had the meega at the local stealers (Hargreaves) :( , to have the airbag light reset. They have found the following:

Accessed vehicle ecu via tech 2, carried out trouble code diagnostic and found not present TC 33 air bag squib circuit high resitance. Is the squib the round part in the steering wheel?

Also is the gearbox software in a 1999 3.0 MV6 able to be upgraded to the latest version? :-?

And finally (This is vectra related though) where would I find the chassis,Frame or VIN number on a vectra so I can send away for a logbook? Is this located on the plate in the engine bay?

Many Thanks  :y

Blimey that was fast TB!

RE the gearbox update Vauxhall have told me the only thing they could have done was to reset it back to the default settings. Whatever that means?

When you say in the window, would that be the black strip with the long series of numbers down it?

Sorry for all the questions!

Yes the squib is the round plastic unit that sits just behind the steering wheel , always seem to cause a problem with squeaking when steering wheel is turned especially when cold, are you experiencing that as well?

I must say, £35 for resting the airbag light is not a lot in Vx money....

The squib jobbies are seemingly vulnerable to go faulty... mines had 2 on in 4 years...  there is a fitting proceedure on TIS... it involves allowing an amout of slack in the ribbon...  they still go HR though and duley need resetting after replacement...  don't go for second hand, if it's on it's way out it'll cost the same to diagnose and reset all over again...   D.I.Y ??  Easy to fit, just disconnect the battery for 10 mins before removing the airbag unit connections...
