I went to my Vauxhall dealer today to order the bits to do my exhaust manifold gasket tomorrow and I though I would order a set of mud flaps while I was there. The parts bloke said that they wont fit the Elite because of the tyre size :-?

Anyone had this problem?

Not had this problem  but i have seen plenty of omegas with mudflaps fitted,are your wheels larger than standard ?

Let us know how you get on with your exhaust manifold job mate. Are you doing the drivers side??? Could you do a 'how to' on the job please, as i need to do that job on an Elite that i have just brought.
As for mudflaps, there seems plenty of clearence on my Elite to fit mudflaps.

have had genuine rear mudflaps fitted to my elite for ages and never had an issue with them..tyres are standard 225/55/16 and they dont rub ..parts bloke must have had bad day ??

It's the front wheels you'll have the clearance problems. I started to fit them a few years ago and after I'd cut along the suggested lines & they still fouled the tyres I put them on the 'to do' pile!

The Vx mud flaps I have, have got a range of vehicles that they fit, hence the moulded lines on the back that you can attack with your Stanley knife.

i've got 225/55/16 on my omega and have just put flaps on that ,and you can do it without taking the wheels off

Fitted them to my Elite back in 2000 no probs at all with rears. Fronts used to catch when wheels turned especially when new tyres fitted. I solved problem by using self tapping screw which pulls the inside edge back against wheel arch liner. Still there now. They were genuine Vauxhall flaps.
 

Bet they fall off tomorrow after saying that.

I have always found mud flaps to end up being more trouble then they are worth. If there not fouling the wheels, there scraping on speed humps and coming adrift. I’ve never heard of them not being compatible with Elite models.

I've got mud flaps on all four corners no probs with them catching wheels etc. mine are 235/45 17 one thing though is that the rears are fine however the  fronts do tend to ground on bumpy roads but don't worry they are  fully self adjusting, in time they either wear down so they don't scrape or they snap off altogether

My elite came with factory fitted mudflaps. The only problem I have is scraping the tarmac on speed bumps or bumpy roads at speed when fully laden. Even then, I've never lost one in 7 years (although they are probable a few mil shorter than when they were new )

I've got them too Tony.  I just bought a new set and donated mine to Tunnie - but the fronts are worn already....rather caravan
