  just got a 2.5 v6 cdx estate and love it untill today oil coming out from the header tank theres no water in the sump but oil is filling up the header tank ,any help as this  is new to me ??some one said the head gasket has gone but then a friend said its not its something else im lost so any help would be great thanks

hi learning quick here i take it the oil cooler is under the inlet ,and let me guess its going to cost a arm and a leg??? well if its not raining in the morning will start removing the inlet to have a look,thanks all for your help ill post back when ive got it striped down to let you all know.

Don't use car until fixed.

About £100 for parts, plus fluids.

There is an 'oil cooler kit' which the dealer won't accept exists until you give them part number.  You'll also need new dowty washers.  Contact user Tunnie for part numbers - he ordered some today

hi mate,when u get the new cooler purchase the sealant that goes on the gasket free sumps(white)and  make sure the face on block is really clean before you fit the cooler with new sealant,also when you have re-assemled every thing before you put the new anti freeze in obtain some chemical that can be diluted to remove all the oil deposits from header tank,hoses,heater rad,radiator etc,let engine idle for 10mins then let cool down and flush with hose,repeat until u think its removed as much as poss,i have even used small amounts of washing powder diluted which breaks the oil down then hose pipe pushes it out with bubbles??then add the 3ltrs a/freeze top up to level,should be ok then,good luck.curly

You will be flushing that coolant daily for a couple of weeks....

well if its not raining in the morning will start removing the inlet to have a look,thanks all for your help ill post back when ive got it striped down to let you all know.

Do you have access to a garage/carport?  If not, plan for rain before you start - with the windscreen scuttle off you can’t just close the bonnet to keep the rain out.

As others have said, it is the oil cooler.

Not too bad a job, as long as you have a set of "crows feet" spanners.
Don't even think about attempting without them!

Oh and don't drive the car... the repair costs will increase substanially if you do. The water oil mix does not work very well as coolant!
