Tyre Wear - Tracking? Something Else?
« on: 28 August 2007, 12:02:18 »

Looking for a bit of advice on what i might be missing, just in case!

I had 2 new front tyres fitted in March / April time along with a new track Rod end and laser tracking as my front tyres were perfect on the outside but worn to the mesh on the inside only.

checked the tyres this morning and although not quite as bad, both my front tyres are wearing in the inside and not on the outside so seems they are sitting like /-(front of car)-\

Is there something else i should maybe be looking at or is it a case of having the tracking done again and see how it is?

for a point of note to get to my house, no matter what way i go, i have to travel over a fair number of these silly block built speed bumps that are just as wide as the car, i do go over them at a very sensible speed, in fact sometimes too sensible so not sure it that's an issue? and i also stay in roundabout city which doesn't help either :)

You need a full geometry check/setup (camber/castor etc) - which is rather more than the allignment they offer in most tyre places.

I'm sure someone from Scottyland will be along soon and advise a suitable place for you to get it done.

Yes, front camber is in-correct and needs setting up.

Thanks guys, car is now booked into a place in edinburgh for next week and guy says max cost would be £58.75 and that's only is everything was off and needed adjusted which would be unlikely so not bad imo :)

Agree with above - inner shoulder wear is camber incorrect.  Ensure they understand the settings, as the specs from Vx are way, way too wide.  Its not just a case of the gauge 'being in the green'

Yeah guy seemed to be ok when i phoned and commented that omegas were guilty of wandering off camber wise also.
