Problems
« on: 04 September 2007, 22:28:38 »

My daughter as purchased a 1997 2.0 auto cdx 104000 miles. Could someone tell me about general problems with these vehicles other than the normal Vauxhall things like cam&crankshaft sensors, maff, icv?

What autobox is fitted to these it was registered mid 1997 and where do you check auto box fluid?

I am fairly experienced with Vectras and dare I say it Corsas.

Thank you.

There's a "how to" in the maintenance guides for checking the auto-box level  :y

Howdoo.  Take an hour or so as well as a few cups of tea/coffee to view the maintenance guides, FAQ and Tech Info.  Loads of good info in there, including things such as this for a guide to buying various engine types.

No such thing as a strange question, just one perhaps thats not been asked for a while!   ;)

Remember the search function as well.  Its handy to track particular probs.

Enjoy!   :y

I have a 97 auto, common faults are, lower suspension arms, drop links, cam cover oil leaks, radio display segments missing, front tyre wear, still a great car.  Dont mean she will have them all though, all cars have faults. :) :)

2L..  sooner or later you'll have idling problems - erratic or stalling.   but don't panic...

preventative maintenance is to clean breather hoses , especially the small one and the metal port it connects to under the throttle body,  clean throttle body and idle control valve.   Do it now and once a year or so to keep it tiptop.
