side light bulbs
« on: 13 September 2007, 15:36:39 »

may sound odd but never really looked at front of car with headlights on till last evening  ..just wondering as car has xenon headlights which give a great colour and performance ,but looks really sad with yellowish side lights..is there a bulb (legal ) that will work but get closer to the xenon colour..just a aesthetic thing but sure somebody out there knows and has changed them.

Have got white led's in mine - definately a lot sharper white and does make a slight difference - but tbh I wish I'd spent a tenner on other things. Legallity wise not sure as they are white - although was behind a police car for about 10 miles on the M6 last night and they never bothered to pull me over about them - although the packaging for the LED's did say they are not for public highway use!!!  They would probably have pulled me if they where in the mood.

All lamps as used on vehicles on a public road need to be 'E' marked but, TBH, unless its a blatant flaunt of the law (or PC Jobsworth looking for a skull) then it falls a fair way down the to do list, if you follow......     ;)

Would add, however, this does not constitute a 'get out of jail free' card in any kind, manner, shape, form or interpretation.....   :y

Daft as it sounds legally you can have any colour headlight bulbs (hence all the varying colours of tint you can buy) but your side lights must be white!!

You will have no probs with the led's but i have found that the light doesnt disperse across the reflector like a standard bulb does so you tend to get a concentrated pin point light rather than the usual yellow reflection.
