Is this true?..have had a slight vibration between 60-75 which felt like wheel balance..took car to local tyre place this morning..they laser checked tracking and advised out by 2mm ??this was corrected...they then balanced both front wheels ans said that the tyre on both wheels were not rotating even..they suggested adding wheel balance weights to try and resolve to a more acceptable level but as both were out of circular they could not be certain this would resolve..i was shown the wheels rotating on machine and to my eye they did appear out of rotation..it was hinted they could have been flat spotted by a high speed lock-up..not that i recall such an incident..needless to say i was advised that i needed 2 new tyres at £120=00 ish each,but as they have a fair amount of wear left felt would seek further advise...the tyres in question are 225/55/16 95v and are Nankang,on all four corners

I have had a pair of non circular tyres, Continental if I remember. Quite easy to see if you  raise the wheel and spin against a fixed reference pointer. I moved them to the rear to wear them out.
Am trying a set of budget somethings, 225 55 16 at around £40 each. Ride and balance seems ok, since I do a very high mileage will see how they last.

Tyres can go out of shape for various reasons, some cheap budget ones are very prone to this.
If you don't want the expense of changing them yet then i would suggest changing the fronts with the rears.

Thanks guys...i suggested to tyre place to swop back with front but was advised that would then shake back through rear diff??see his point but after some research found that Nankang tyres are quite cheap so perhaps at 20k per tyre have had my monies worth....as i do loads of miles have stopped buying the Michelins/Pirellis as cost doesn,t seem to stack up ..but expect i never had these issues with those makes

20k is good going for a set of front tyres.

I can get 30k from Nankang NS2's on the front  

I just changed my rears last week for NS2's as well.....£110 fitted at Bathwick Tyres  

Its sooooo much quieter now i got rid of the Wanli's that were on there.....bl**dy noisy tyres

it could be balancing,most likely by your description.tracking will not affect what you describe unless wheels are at 90 degrees.most likely cause is an out of shape tyre,you might not see it  on the balancer.look for bulges,cuts etc.also look inside the tyre if you can.if you had flat spotted at speed it would almost certainly be visible.nankangs are not the best tyres,being budget.lastly if the vibration appears to come from one particular side try swapping the wheels over.hope this helps.

And that's your only complaint about Wanli's? My biggest problem with them is the near zero grip in the wet.

Must admit, i found Avon ZZ Blah Blah Blah tyres on my astra, to be pretty slippery in the wet, and althuogh i dont usually by a lot of french made stuff, My Mich Pilot Prem HP's on the meega are absolutly fantastic, but they are 235/45/17's. My choice....

The Avons were in the dry today.  No TC on tractor, and roundabouts sooooo enticing

Michelin. Hate 'em. Wouldn't stick them on a skateboard.  Too flippin hard, zero grip.  On the MV6, Dunlop SP9090 are my preferred weapon of choice...

I have always been told that vibrations over 60mph is owing to the rear wheels needing balancing not the front :-?

all the dunlops i've ever seen seem to crack up.a nice set of pirelli p6000's i think.sticks like s**t to a blanket.

A mate of mine suggested dunlop's, but for the miliage i do i need em to last long, last set lasted 35K and still plenty of grip. Right up to the point where the TC goes off and the right boot goes firmly ON. Its really good driving out of the side window, ( on private land with the owners permission obviously!!!!
