Sensor for the gauge is Donald Ducked. That's usually a test to see if the gauge is working ie when you earth the wire the switch you should get full deflection  of your gauge. It's just not the easiest thing to get access to.

when we tap the instrument panel with your finger it goes down and then jumps back up we unplugged what we assume is the sensor from the rad and turned the key on and it did the same thing. or is this normal lol.

Hello
The temperature gauge sensor is not on the radiator. can't remember exactly where it is on the 2.0 but it is usually located near the thermostat housing, disconnect this wire and see if the gauge drops, if it does the sensor is broken, if not you have probably got a short circuit in that wire.

Hope this helps.

The sensors in the rad are for the electric cooling fans (don't know specifically what each one is - never had need to know  ;)). The coolant sensors - ECU & gauge live in the middle of the V at the back of the block, you want the one with a single wire.

PS I don't remember you having used my finger ... to tap the dash!!  ;D

All in my humble opinion.  :y  :y  :y

this car has to go on a trip of around 200 miles tomorrow will it hurt to run it with the clock not working
the fan is cutting in no problem but dont want to run it that far if it is going to cause harm.

As long as it's just the gauge you'll be OK, if your fan(s) is/are cutting in & out as normal it sounds as though your car is running at the correct temperature.
