fitting cruise to a manual MV6
« on: 12 October 2007, 21:49:18 »

having got the relevant bits, from a 2.5 manual, from another site member i'm in the process of fitting cruise to a manual mv6. all going ok until time to fit the control box to the inner driver's wing.

currently, using the same mounting points on the inner wing, is a bracket for the additional "water pump" (as quoted to me by a Vx spare person). it comes out into the engine bay at about 45 degrees and then has a "tongue" pointing upwards onto which a rubber mount fits to hold the "pump"
looking at the angle of the bracket, it won't clear the cuise unit if fitted to the same bolts on the wing, and can't fit on the other bolts as the bracket end would be about 2 inches out of alignment with the "pump" (ie closer to the rad).
according to the spares guy, there is no seperately listed bracket for cruise fitted models (as there is for other parts).

so, has any one a manual mv6 with cruise that could explain how the "quart" of brackets fits into the "pint" of bolts and space available?

cheers

The extra water pump is a bit random. It's meant to keep the coolant circulating when the engine is off so that the interior heater works for a bit after the engine is off.

Cars that came with cruise as standard generally don't have the pump, whilst equivalent models, same year without cruise may have the pump fitted....

My Elite with standard cruise has its electric water pump by the rad, near side at the top.

Many thanks for the link.
Just need to get different holder for the aux pump and "mod" the control bracket.
also useful to know that being a 98 model it should just be plug and play, rather than an ecu "reboot"

cheers for all your help
