crankshaft sensor

hi everyone hope you could help with a problem i have my omega keeps cutting out and had the rac out to take a look they told me it was the crankshaft sensor ive bought a new one but cannot locate the sensor itself to replace it found the plug and wire but not sensor weres it hidden anybody help please ive got the haynes manual but still no joy the manual says under power steering pump or next to oil filter but no clear picture of these 2 locations   sorry new to all this

Run your hand down the oil dipstick tube until you meet the crankcase.
Feel forward about 2" towards the front of the engine and you'll feel
it.
You can't see it.

I think the maintenance guide is for the V6, not the 4 pot?

Hallo!

I have the same problem! I cant fanid the sensor on my 2.2 motor  from 2001.  Is my sensor on same place as "Grympy" describe?

If you have air con you have to remove compressor then the braket that supports it and power steering pump ,about 1 1/2 hrs work
