If i took out an engine with an automatic transmission, and i put in a manual transmission, what else would i have to change because you got the cluth, gearbox.
Also, how much do you think it would come to (price) excluding transmission?
(By the way, not that good with mechanics so if i have menchioned anything wring sorry)
Thanks,
Jamie

Looks immaculate, but surely venting the crankcase to atmosphere is illegal now?

Gearbox, clutch, flywheel, pedal box and clutch hydraulics. Straightforward enough swap I believe.

If i have an Automatic Omega, Do you think i could buy a Manual Omega (Same Litre) then just swap parts over.
Would i have to contact some one like insurance saying i have changed it, or even the DVLA?
Thanks,
Jamie

Anything, and I mean anything, you do to your car has to be declared to the insurance company. If you're involved in any collision, fault or not, the assessor will go over your car and find anything to stop them paying out... they are required to still pay out to the third party (RTA 1986), but will then claim it back from you through court. If you change the engine and box, you'd have to get the cc's and details on the V5C changed through the DVLA, same as you would if you changed the colour.
If you had major mods - suspension, chassis, etc, as well as the engine and box, you'd probably have to SVA it - each part scores a certain amount of points for being original, anything over X points and you'd have to put the car on a Q-plate.

I can't see the insurance assessor stripping down my engine to find the 3.0 cams in it ... even if he did, I doubt he'd know what he was looking for ;D
