Gary, you say your trip computer isn't working, do you mean nothing is working when you press the end of the windscreen wiper stick?
1/ Check Coolant is displayed but reservoir is full........ there have been a few guys on here over the past few weeks with that same question, there is a sensor inside the reservoir bottle that may not be working properly.
2/ Check Tail/Headlights is displayed...... check all the tail light bulbs mate, there are two each side :y

By the sounds of things the computer display need to be reset (if they can) But check all the sensors they could be playing up as well.

You sure that isnt average speed your looking at  :-/ ?

Check coolant as others have said could be dodgy connecter underneath the coolant bottle or the sensor itself......if the later you will need to replace the coolant bottle.....not expensive.

Also check the number plate bulbs for the headlight/taillight message  :y

Is it the original stereo or has someone swapped it for a different make......could be the reason no display

The only big VX that had a digital speedo was the GSi Carlton, I think, as did some Astra GTE's.

If you mean the 'speed' part on the computer display then thats your average speed, not you actual current speed.

As suggested, reset each of the settings (top button on right stalk).

Check tail light - remember theres also lamps on the boot lid as well as the corner of the wing....

The check coolant warning is also quite common.  Only real cure is a replacement header tank as they cannot be stripped down for cleaning.

They probably never had the digital speedos in the plod cars though, just calibrated analogue, with more increments.  :-?

Whot he said.....

The only Senny's I've driven have been company ones with analogue dials for the calibrated speedo.  I have owned Carlton and Astra with the digi speedo, hence the comment....

Check coolant is the coolant bottle, there is a sensor inside that has most likely packed up

On start up the Omega will display 'brakelight check' this goes out when the brake pedal is applied, if the warning is coming on at any other time then have a look at the bulbs and consider replacing.

Omegas dont have a digi speedo, the speed on the computer is an average speed, if you reset it on the stalk it will return to zero and then monitor the average speed until next reset

hope that helps
