Omega 2.0 16V 1994 Problems Help Please, Newbie
« on: 09 November 2007, 12:47:15 »

Hi just recently picked up a 2.0 Omega L reg, Great Car !

Two problems i was wondering if anyone could help with ?  :)

First - I think the idle air control valve is gone. Have tried cleaning it but works for a little while then revs go crazy when i stop etc... Where is the best place to get one ?

Second - The heaters are not working properley. I have drained the systems twice and flushed it etc... Top pipe is hot but bottom pipe is warm where it goes into matrix ? inside car.
The air is not cold it is slighlty warm, Just wondering if their is an easy fix. its not the head gasket etc... as i've checked all that.

Any help would be great !.

P.s also what are these cars like for towing a car on a trailer ?

Thanks.

Ian.

Welcome to the forum :y

Have you followed the guides on here in the 'Maintenance' section for cleaning out the idle control valve?

Have you cleaned out the throttle body and breathers?

Have you replaced all the gaskets with new if and when you did it?

Can't help with heater.

Yes, it is ESSENTIAL that the throttle body AND breathers are cleaned out when doing the idle valve, if you dont it will be good for a short period until another bit of crudd gets dislodged from the breathers and cloggs the idle valve again.

Sounds like the heater matrix needs flushing out, if the hose in is hot but the outlet is only warm then this would suggest and blocked matrix.
