MOT Emissions Test Failure
« on: 20 November 2007, 08:34:19 »

Not mine, my mates 2.0 gls estate.

Last year it failed it's emissions test, told it needed new cats.

Had new cats fitted, MOT this year failed again, advised it needed new cats!

It does burn oil, done about 145K.

Any ideas please?

I'll ask, but I remember him saying it was reading 80 and should have been 30.

Sudgests its still in open loop operation....whats the temp gague reading when hes driving about...

Idealy it wants tech 2 to confirm Lambda operation and coolant temp reading.

Hardly registers when he's driving.

Would it be convenient to come over one evening this week for you to TechII?

Makes me wonder if it was like that last year when someone sold him a new cat.

However, in a MOT environment it will be bouncing on and off the cooling fan switch so it might go unnoticed without a road test.
