Hi all,

2 weeks ago the head gasket went on my 96 2.0, so over the weekend I took the head off, got it skimmed and put it all back together, all seemed good apart from one electrical plug that I can't remember/find where it plugs into :-?

It is one of the ones that comes out of the back of the plastic casing that goes on top of the injectors, now I have all the ones for the ECU temp sender/EGR/Dash temp and coil all connected but I just have this black 3 pin socket left!

The car runs but she's a little hesitant and the management light is staying on, does anyone have any ideas where it goes?

Hi Paul, with out seeing a pic of the plug in question i am guessing that its the large plug you on about. if it is the other end should be under the leaf scuttle between the bulk head and the back of the engine. I could be wrong as thats what i have on my 2.5 v6. Someone else with more knowlegdge will be along soon, in the meantime try and put up a photo of the offending item.

just checked mine and if its the wire that comes out of the plastic wire tray by the fuel rail presure valve then its the cam sensor plug.

But the paperclip test (see Maintenence Guides) will tell you whats not plugged in

I would guess purge valve...

Can you read the fault codes (see maintenance guides section) and report back which codes you are getting please.

Right it flashed....

Now After a bit of digging I assume it has the siemens simtec ecu and that means the knock sensor, now I remember plugging that in.......now if I plugged it in the right place is a whole different story!  

Now this would explain the slight hesitancy and the lack of power, I assume it knocks the timing back in a "get you home mode"?

Right, numpty had it plugged into the wrong thing!

It's all o.k. now, I have the power back and the EML is now off.

So, you managed to find a home for the one thats now been disconnected?

Yes, basically I'd messed up, I'd plugged the knock sensor into the connector that is on the plastic tube with the injector connections on it, between 3 & 4 injectors there is a 3 pin socket and I put it on that.
