Tapping (sort of)
« on: 22 November 2007, 18:36:38 »

Hi, I have a 2.0L 16V Auto. While driving I get a sort of light tapping noise. Its not the topend thats tapping, In fact sounds more like a sort of chain rattle, As my engine is belt driven it can't be a chain, Can you please advise.

From your posts, you have:

1) Blocked Breather Jet and stalling engine.
2) EML light with codes for MAF, Crank and Cam Sensors.
3) Noisy exhaust.

Might be wise to fix the above known faults and see what you're left with
before trying to diagnose a light tapping that might not be there when
you fix everything else.

You say it's tapping when driving, but it's not the top end.
Does this mean that it's audible when static, ie not just when
driving (engine under load), or are you guessing it's not the top end
as you can only hear it when driving?
