Since the weather got colder/damper, I find if I take the Elite saloon on a trip , park for say an hour, that when I get back the car is heavily misted up, particularly the rear window.     It clears pretty quickly although if climate is off ,it does start to mist up along the side windows.

Neither of my estates have done this.   There is no trace/smell etc of damp in the car at all, wet carpets etc, and I have checked the scuttle drain which is bone dry.

Any ideas?

.. and no, I don't think anyone has been borrwing the back seat for a little hanky panky (which is certainly what it looks like from outside!)

Iirc sometimes the air-recircultion flap doesnt reset properly and this can cause the windows to mist, try turning the air-recirculation switch on and straight off again so it resets the flap.

It might work, not sure though.

Also make sure it's not something damp (eg. rain soaked coat) or something similar. I've experienced this.

Two things to consider....

1) Are the vents in the spare wheel well (drivers side boot cubby hole on saloon) clear or is this area rammed full of junk?

2) When operating aircon, the condensator does get wet......when you turn the system off, the dampness can evaporate and get into the cabin where it will condense on the currently cold windows....

With climate off I'd be surprised if there was enough ventilation to keep it from steaming up. These last few days, once the climate has got up to temperature I have had to increase the fan speed manually to keep it clear.

Are the vents in the rear driver's side boot cubby-hole clear of clutter?

Maybe the estate has better natural ventilation - or at least more air to absorb the moisture in your breath.

actually the car is completely empty including the rear cubby hole (I assume you mean the one containing the cd player?)   Where exactly are the vents in there? - wasn't immediately obvious in the dark garage.

Right in the bottom.......note also the vent across the back of the rear parcel shelf to.

You do breathe whilst driving, presumably? Granted there are other activities which could make the problem worse, and lead to a charge of driving without due care and attention, no doubt

This time of year I always use the climate control, and use the demist button to quickly clear the windows.
If I use it on eco mode then yes the windows start to mist up again, especially if there is more than one person in the car on a cold damp day.
