Just bought MV6
« on: 11 December 2007, 15:32:03 »

Just bought my 1st Omega - 3Ltr MV6 & have a couple of queries you may be able to help me with.  The vehicle came without a handbook and I've ordered one from E-Bay, but in the meantime what does the ECO button do?  The car was registered in May 2001 (Irish plates), but appears to be a pre-facelift model (window switches by gear selector).  Was this peculiar to the MV6 or do you think it may have been old stock?  It runs beautifully, but the coolant temperature varies quite considerably - is this common or do I have to be checking it out (coolant level is ok)?  Thanking you in advance.

The ECO button is so when you have the Climate Control on you can yurn off the air con pump, apparently a saving.... I have never bothered............
My window switches are by the gear lever too, I have a 1998 MV6 which is known as a mini face-lift dont know if that helps.....
What do you mean by the temperature varies quite a lot??

Tell us more,   but its quite likely that the thermostat is stuck.

What temp is it running at, how quickly does it warm up from cold, do the fans come on above 95 or so (its normal for the temp to rise in slow traffic?  Normal is about 92 degrees which it should reach within a few minutes drive from cold

do a coolant flush first of all, check fans come on and off and if needs be a thermostat change....also check radiator is not patch heat wise.

Could simply be poor circulation poor coolant mix...unlikely but easy jobs first  :y

I would have said 95 was more normal for the 3.0?? 92 is more like the 2.5 temp

welcome to the site  :y

as others have said, you have a mini-facelift, MV6's were available at this time.

I have found with mine that the temp does float around when the car is in slow moving traffic or wen stationary, when cruising then it is constant.

only other recommendation is cambelt........when was it done? if you have no paperwork that proves a cambelt kit was fitted within the last 40K get it done asap  :y
