If there is no engine management light showing, check that some monkey hasn't removed the bulb from the dash....!

Apologies  :-[

I don't think the bulb has been removed.

Cheers.

GG

Does the eml light come on when the ignition is turned on without starting the engine ??  If it does not either the bulb has blown or the previous owner has removed it ... either way it is a bad thing !!  :(

I know little about the V6 and even less about the 2.0 !! but logic says that if the EML light works on test, but does not come on whilst running  .... then the ECU is "happy" so it is probably NOT a sensor ... that would leave me to suspect no spark due to plugs/leads/coil. The fact that the thing worked after a MINOR disturbance to a plug lead/coil would back that guess up and as all plugs/leads going at once is coincidence too much .. I'd go for the coil pack starting to get tired ....... but an adult will come along shortly and prove me wrong no doubt !!!   :)

Assuming the EML isn't wired to ABS or airbag light (yes, I've seen that done to hide problems), it has to be either HT or fuel related.  Have you checked for good fuel delivery to the fuel rail.  Check that plugs to DIS are clean and secure...

Thanks for the quick replies  ;D

I'll check the plugs and for the cost of a set of plug leads, I might as well change the lot. That way, I can role that out completely.

I'll post again if it packs up  ::)

Cheers.

Plug leads CAN be expensive - the ones from Halfords are OK, I used them after my cam cover leak on the blue 2.0 CD.

There is a lot of emmisions gubbins on the 2.0, and quite a few places for air leaks.

If you ever get stalling it can be the ICV or the pipe into the manifold from the cam cover.
