South Wales / Gloucester Tech2 ?
« on: 17 December 2007, 18:05:21 »

I know TheBoy has Tech2, but he's inconsiderately living on the wrong side of the country!

Are there any TECH2 owning people in South Wales or Gloucester areas?
I'm looking to get cruise enabled on my '03 V6 having seen that it just requires a new indicator stalk  :)

If not it'll be a discussion with Vauxhall...

Not yet... I'll have to do it soon though. Been stopped twice recently for speeding.
Luckily just warnings to "calm down" but I need cruise to keep me in check!

Guys,

There aren't any members on here with a Tech2 in the South Wales area. As you rightly say, TheBoy is probably the nearest in Northants.

If you are patient, we will be having a meet in Gloucestershire probably late in the summer. Failing that, a nice day out in Northants would be a good idea. Not only would you get your cruise enabled but have the opportunity to have the auto gearbox and climate control upgrades as well as checking any fault codes that may be stored. Would probably pay for the petrol in one go.

As far as cruise stalks are concerned, the general advice is that second hand are not adviseable as they may fail. In fairness there have been several members that I've seen who have fitted second hand and I've not heard any comebacks. To be on the safe side I bought one of THESE, it works.  :y

No Auto for me, as mine's an ex=plod manual.

Climate control upgrades? what dat?

I might have to bite the bullet and make the trip in the new year, not sure I can wait too long before I get points! :D

For some reason I thought TheBoy was further away, Northants isn't too bad!

Sorry to hear you've got too many pedals. That must be a real pain. :(

Climate control upgrade makes the system more controllable. The fans don't remain at full blast until the desired temperature is reached, unless you want them to. A very good and worthwhile update to the system. :y

That's just the problem I have! The fans seem to be a bit full on, I might get that done as well then.

Cheers for the info, I feel a New Year visit coming in :)

I am right on the Northants/Bucks/Oxon border.

Buy a brand new stalk, around £30 from dealer.  2 types, 4 wire for all except the 2.5TD which uses a 2 wire one.

Only other person on here with a Tech2 is Marks_DTM, up in Nottingham, so I guess thats no good to you.

Well I'll probably be PMing you after Christmas to see when you're free to work your magic :)
Festive beer in it for you as well as your very reasonable fees!

The Climate upgrade will probably make a difference to my over-active fans. Although I've just checked the sensor fan, and that doesn't seem to be working, so I might have to do some other work on that.

Anyways, thanks for the info all!  ;D

I think I need more bits for mine as it's a manual.

So is it a clutch or brake switch. Or both. Pfffft

Haha, I don't think I've been pleasantly surprised about anything on cars! :)

I'll have a look through, and try to see what I'm looking for anyways. Cheers!
