Can I mention F1?
« on: 05 October 2007, 21:15:02 »

I'm sure I saw an F1 thread locked the other day, so I'm not sure whether there is a house rule against discussing the subject. Anyway, for those that are interested, her are two quick snippets: First, Hamilton's been cleared of any wrongdoings at the last GP and, secondly, the McLaren spygate scandal is set to come to the fore again as Nigel Stepney's publisher has bowed to pressure to drop plans to handle his book. This news coincides with the release of his letter (see link) to Max Mosley. His allegations make interesting reading...

No probs with discussing F1 here.

Only a previous minor difference of views regarding the Japanese GP, the posting of the result, and the efforts of some to avoid hearing the early morning news before lunchtime....   :D   ;)   :y

Another sport destined for corruption through greed. Is anything on the level these days?

Did you know? Max Mosely, the president of the FIA is the son of Oswald Mosley, who was interned during the second world war due to his Facist Party membership.

The following is an extract from Wikipedia:

Internment

On 23 May 1940 Mosley, who had continued his peace campaign, was interned under Defence Regulation 18B, along with most active fascists in Britain, and the BUF was later proscribed. His second wife Diana, whom he had married in 1936 in the presence of Hitler and Goebbels, was also interned, shortly after the birth of their son Max; they lived together for most of the war in a house in the grounds of Holloway prison. Mosley used the time to read extensively on classical civilizations. The couple were released in November 1943, when Mosley was suffering with phlebitis, and spent the rest of the war under house arrest. On his release from prison he stayed at the Shaven Crown Hotel in Shipton-under-Wychwood and was the subject of much media attention.[1] However, the war ended what remained of his political reputation.

No comment, just an interesting upbringing.

I shall be setting my alarm clock for half an hour before I go to bed in an effort to watch it live this weekend. If that fails and it probably will after a day of knuckle bashing on the car on Saturday followed by copious quantities of amber anasthetic then I will just take out the mains fuse till the repeat mid day. That will kill all contact with the outside world including the phone.

Instead of us all having to bite out tongues , why doesnt one person just title a new thread F1 RESULTS! and then the people who dont want to know just dont click and view that thread. Much easier than people slipping up or false accusations  ::)

No probs. with mentioning F1, please everyone, don't post a thread with the result in the title.

It won't be mentioned in the news banner either :-[

Spongebob,

I can bite my tongue , but as there is a "General Chat" board on this forum then some people will want to chat about it. As some people dont then what is the harm in putting a thread marked clearly "F1 Results" or similar at least then it caters for EVERYBODY, and not just people who want to wait until they have seen the race?!

I cant see what all the problem is?!?   :-/
